Did you know?
Oral health means being free of mouth pain, tooth decay, tooth loss, oral and throat cancer, birth defects and other diseases that affect the mouth. Many diseases can start with oral symptoms, and many diseases beginning in the mouth can affect health in other parts of the body. Good oral health is essential to general health and quality of life.

Statistics and Facts:
  • 49% of Lincoln County residents (ages 2+) have not had a dental visit in the past year, 2018. Source: County Health Rankings and Roadmaps
  • In 2018, there is 1 dental clinic in Lincoln County who will treat Medicaid/BadgerCare patients.
  • The rate of oral health emergency department visits in Lincoln County is 140 per 100,000 in the population, 2014. Source: Environmental Public Health Tracker
  • There is only 1 dentist per 1,550 residents in Lincoln County, 2018. Source: County Health Rankings and Roadmaps

Goal 1: Increase awareness, knowledge, and oral/dental health behaviors and their effects on "whole body" health
Suggested Objectives and Strategies:
  • Continue/Expand oral health education campaigns for Lincoln County school age children
  • Continue/Expand oral health education campaigns in the community
  • Utilize oral health displays to promote good oral hygiene at community events/organizations/worksites/medical clinics/dental clinics/emergency department waiting areas
  • Continue/Expand the Oral Health Social Marketing Campaign
  • Encourage medical providers to implement oral health behavior messages at well child visits
Goal 2: Increase utilization of oral/dental health services and resources
Suggested Objectives and Strategies:
  • Continue/Expand the Dental Seal-A-Smile Program in Lincoln County Elementary and Middle Schools
  • Continue/Expand the Head Start Fluoride Varnishing Program
  • Expand the Fluoride Supplement Program to Pine River School for Young Learners rural students/families
  • Explore opportunities to involve other dental professionals/clinics
  • Develop and distribute a guide for oral/dental health resources that are available in Lincoln County
