Circuit Court

Mission of Wisconsin's Court System:

To protect individual rights, privileges and liberties, to maintain the rule of law, and to provide a forum for the resolution of disputes that is fair, accessible, independent and effective. It is the responsibility of the Circuit Court to aid and fulfill this mission in Lincoln County.

Overview:

The Wisconsin circuit courts are the state's trial court. The circuit courts are divided into branches with at least one branch per county. Lincoln County has three branches with two full time circuit court judges and one family court commissioner with limited hours.

Circuit courts have original jurisdiction in all civil and criminal matters within the state, including probate, juvenile, and traffic matters, as well as civil and criminal jury trials.
