The purpose of the Child Welfare System is to keep children safe and to support families to provide safe, permanent and nurturing homes for the children.  The system does this by safely keeping children and youth in their own home, family, tribe, and community whenever possible.  Wisconsin Child Welfare Model for Practice  The Wisconsin Child Welfare Model for Practice, developed through the collaboration of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Wisconsin County Human Service Association (WCHSA), provides guidance for best practice in the delivery of child welfare services.

The Lincoln County Child Welfare Unit provides a range of services to children and families to meet the purpose of the model for practice.  The Lincoln County Child Welfare Unit works with community partners to build informal connections, increase resiliency in children and strengthen families.
