The Wisconsin Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources provides services to Wisconsin qualified residential households with energy assistance and weatherization needs. This program is administered by the State of Wisconsin Home Energy Plus Program.  Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program is a one-time per heating season benefit, which is dependent upon household size, income level and heating costs. The benefit is intended to pay a portion of annual heating costs.  Please contact your local agency to apply. 

In addition to regular heating and electric assistance, specialized services include:

  • Emergency fuel assistance
  • Counseling for energy conservation and energy budgets
  • Proactive co-payment plans
  • Targeted outreach services
  • Emergency furnace repair and replacement

The Energy Assistance Program Year begins the new Year on Oct 1, 2023 and Lincoln County Social Services will be begin scheduling appointments  September 15, 2023.  

Lincoln County does not have any crisis funds available to help households facing a disconnection of their electricity until the new season begins.  Renters needing help in this situation before October 1, 2023 can call ESI at 800-506-5596.  Homeowners should contact Wisconsin Help for Homeowners at 833-426-9472.
