Winter Survival Kit

Car Kit

Everyone should carry a Winter Survival Kit in their vehicle. In an emergency, it could save your life and the lives of your passengers. Here are some items to include:

  • Shovel, windshield scraper and small broom
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Water and small packages of food that you can eat hot or cold
  • Extra hats, socks, mittens, blankets and sleeping bags
  • First aid kit with pocket knife
  • Road salt, sand, or cat litter for traction
  • Tow chain/rope and booster cables
  • Necessary medications
  • Battery powered radio
  • Matches and small candles
  • Cell phone adapter (plug into lighter)
  • Emergency flares and reflectors
  • Fluorescent distress flag and whistle to attract attention
