HIGH SPEED BROADBAND INTERNET IS COMING AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

What you can do:

  • We need for EVERYONE to take internet speed tests at your home and/or business.
  • Run the speed tests often and at various times of the day, evening, and night on weekdays, holidays, and weekends.
  • If your home or business doesn’t have internet access, you can still help.  From a friend’s or neighbor's home, the local library, or your cell phone; go to the speed test webpage and choose the option “Enter an Address with No Available Service” and complete the survey. This information is as important as an actual speed test.

How to run speed tests: Speed tests can be performed using two methods:

  • Visit the Lincoln County Economic Development Corporation webpage: https://www.lincolncountyedc.org or
  • Scan the QR Code with your smartphone camera to open a link to the speed test.

  • Make sure that you are connected to the internet through your wired or WIFI connection and not using cellular data when running speed tests.

Why your internet speed tests are important: We need actual internet speeds -- not the speeds that the internet companies claim to provide -- to identify gaps, assess and prioritize areas for broadband projects, and gauge progress.

Stay up to date on broadband progress in Lincoln County: Lincoln County Economic Development Corporation has created a Broadband Commission with the goal to provide all residents access to reliable, affordable, high speed internet services. The Commission is collaborating with community members and several internet service providers to accomplish this goal.

You can learn more about the Commission’s efforts and see the areas of Lincoln County where broadband projects are already planned at: https://www.lincolncountyedc.org
