Judicial Assistant
Applications are being accepted for a full-time Judicial Assistant position for the Lincoln County Circuit Court. To be considered, applicants must complete and submit a Lincoln County Employment Application form. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Schedules court activities as appropriate by case. Whether via zoom, in person, in accordance to Marsy’s Law, etc.
- Prepares and distributes written notices; maintains accurate and complete court calendar; arrange for courtroom space for visiting judges.
- Answers telephones, taking messages, providing assistance, screening and directing calls; maintains records of incoming calls.
- Transcribes machine dictation including outgoing correspondence, memos, written decisions, opinions, and directives.
- Assembles and types jury instructions.
- Provides information and assistance to the general public and others regarding applications for occupational licenses, petitions for temporary restraining orders, etc.
- Opens mail addressed to the Circuit Judge and Judicial Assistant; prepares appropriate replies as required. Prepares outgoing mail.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High school diploma with vocational/technical training as a legal assistant or training in a related field with a minimum of three to five years as a legal secretary, or any combination of education or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
SALARY:
Starting salary is $18.22 per hour. Eligibility for Lincoln County benefit package including; health, dental, life, LTD, vision, vacation, sick leave, holiday pay and Wisconsin Retirement System.
