Sorting compost, appliances, oil, car batteries, and tires from waste is required by state law. These items must be kept separate or be subject to fines if mixed. All mixed loads will be charged the garbage rate. Call the Lincoln County Landfill at 536-9636 if you have any questions.

  • Garbage = $15.00 minimum/440 pounds ($69.00 a ton)
    • Example: includes cold ashes, furniture, carpeting, humidifier, clothing, food waste, contaminated paper, plastic, glass, tin, light bulbs (from a residence), cardboard that cannot be recycled, vinyl siding, asphalt siding, insulation, fiber glass tubs, drywall, RR ties, treated wood, linoleum, painted wood, windows (wood or aluminum frames), ceiling tile, wood siding (without asphalt material), paneling, painted concrete, cement board, and a whole house that is torn down.
Not garbage: liquid waste, contaminated soil, warm ashes, appliances, tires, vehicle batteries, waste oil, or yard waste. These things cannot be mixed with garbage.
  • Roofing = $10.00 minimum/440 pounds ($46.00 a ton)
    • Example: pure loads of asphalt roofing including tar paper and nails and siding that looks like roofing. Paper from roofing is acceptable in small quantities.
Not roofing: garbage, paper, plastic, cardboard, etc.

Attention Roofing Contractors/Customers:  The landfill uses roofing as a source material for alternate daily cover. Our plan of operation limits us in what qualifies as suitable roofing for daily cover. As such we will be rejecting loads of roofing that contain ineligible materials after July 1, 2017 and charge such loads the garbage rate (currently $69 per ton vs. $46 per ton for roofing).  To qualify as suitable roofing, loads may contain the following: Asphalt shingles, cedar shakes, tar paper, drip edge, nails, chimney brick and ridge venting.  If loads contain the following mixed in with the shingles they will be charged as garbage: paper, synthetic underlayment, rubber membrane, plastic wrappers, card board, styrofoam and other garbage, tires, tarps and wood sheathing or underlayment. Such items can be brought in and kept separate or in contractor bags and then deposited in the landfill and if they are a minor part of the load, the load will still quality as roofing.
