Horseback Riding

You and your horse deserve a fun adventure in the Northwoods, surrounded by scenic lake views and the calming scent of pine trees. Let the city life fade away as you explore up to 20 miles of horseback riding trails in the Underdown Recreation Area.

Five different loops allow you to choose how long your adventure will be: 3.5, 10, 12, 18, or 20 miles.  The loops are clearly marked and provide shortcuts from one to another if you want to change how long your ride is.

Parking and restrooms are available at the entrance to the Underdown along with 11 campsites nearby that are large enough to accommodate trucks with trailers.  These campsites are first-come first-served.

To ride the trails, you will need to purchase an Underdown summer trail pass. Please note that these are multi-use trails, so be aware of passersby when biking and hiking trails intersect with the horseback riding trails.
