K9 Unit

K9 Poncho (male German Shepherd born in Hungary) is paired with Deputy Joel Prahl. K9 Nina (female German Shepherd born in Hungary) is paired with Deputy Sam Steckbauer. 

Both K9's have been busy since beginning their careers in mid-June of 2017, after six weeks of training at Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana.  K9 Poncho and K9 Nina are trained and certified in narcotics detection, building searches, officer protection, and searching for missing persons or tracking suspects.

The K9's and their handlers are excited to continue serving the citizens of Lincoln County, as well as assisting surrounding law enforcement agencies when called upon. The acquisition of both K9's, training, equipment, etc., could not have been possible without the extremely generous donation from the Bierman Foundation.
