Transfers to Another County

If an inmate wishes to transfer their sentence to another county it must be approved by the sentencing Judge and listed on the inmates JOC. 

  • A copy of the JOC will be required to transfer your sentence.
  • You must also provide a completed  Huber Transfer Form and a completed Lincoln County Request for Employment form. 
  • If the offense you are serving jail time on is OWI related you will also need to provide copies of your AODA Assessment (Drivers Safety Plan), paperwork proving that an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) has been installed into all vehicles registered in your name or an Exception form from the Department of Motor Vehicles stating that there are no vehicles registered in your name.

All transfer paperwork needs to be brought to the Lincoln County Jail Lobby. The request will then be sent to the county you wish to transfer to.

NOTE: that county is under no obligation to accept you. If they deny your transfer you will need to report to the Lincoln County Jail on or before your start date/time to serve your sentence.

If you are accepted by another county you will have to report to the Lincoln County Jail on or before the start date/time listed on your JOC for processing. There will be a $35.00 transfer fee charged to you by the Lincoln County jail that MUST be paid at the time of processing. You must also pass a urine drug screening and preliminary breath test at the time of processing. Failure to test negative for any alcohol or drugs will impede your transfer. After processing in the Lincoln County Jail you will need to report immediately to the jail you are transferring to.

Transfers to Lincoln County Jail

If you wish to transfer your sentence to the Lincoln County Jail it must be ordered by the sentencing Judge that you may do so.

  • You must then request a transfer in the county in which you were sentenced.
  • They will need to send the Lincoln County Jail a request for transfer along with a copy of your JOC and Huber paperwork showing that you are employed in Lincoln County.
  • If the offense is OWI related you will also be required to provide proof of AODA Assessment (Drivers Safety Plan), proof of IID instillation or exemption form from the Department of Motor Vehicles proving you have no vehicles registered in your name.

The sentencing county will then submit all paperwork for approval to the Lincoln County Jail. Lincoln County is not obligated to accept you as a transfer. If you are missing any of the required paperwork or are not employed in Lincoln County at the time of your request it will be denied.

If approved you must report to the Lincoln County Jail on or before the required start date listed on your JOC at the Date/time ordered by the sentencing county. If you report to the Lincoln County Jail under the influence of alcohol or drugs or test positive for any alcohol or drugs during your incarceration your transfer will be rescinded and you will be sent directly to the jail in your county of original commitment.
