Underdown Campground

Underdown Campground is located in the Underdown Recreation Area 13 miles northeast of Merrill on Copper Lake Avenue. There are 11 primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis.  A hand water pump and pit toilets are located off the east end of the main parking lot.  Year round camping is allowed.

Camping fee is $20.00 per night with self registration on site. 

Underdown Recreation Area opportunities include horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking a segment of the Ice Age Trail, hunting within a grouse management unit, and fishing.

Two sanitary dump stations are available for Underdown Recreation Area campers:

1. Merrill Wastewater Treatment Plant
2. Council Grounds State Park

            *** Council Grounds dump station will be closed periodically throughout the summer. To dump at Council Grounds, a state park sticker is required plus a $10.00 fee. ***
